Welcome 2018!

Apparently this is a going to be a great year! Haven’t you heard? It’s all over the news. I better keep up then…..

Welcome 2018!!!

How good is the start of a new year?! I might be a little nerdy (I know I’m not alone here) but I really get excited about new calendars, new diaries and all the potential and possibility of the New Year. Who doesn’t love a new beginning. It always gets me thinking about what I want to achieve this year and how I can achieve it.

What DO I want to achieve this year?

How am I going to achieve it?

it’s no secret….I need to….

I know that! I always set goals….But, this year I actually want to smash em! It’s not that hard, with a little planning I can, I will, I must!

‘A goal without a plan is just a wish’ after all.

This year, I’m following a few easy steps to help me reach my goals. Thought they might come in handy for YOU!

Here they are:

Step 1 – Write them goals down.

People who have goals are more successful than those who don’t have goals and people who actually write their goals down are likely to achieve them.

Step 2 – Re-word your goals to make them specific.

Goals need to be specific and clear. If you don’t have a clear idea of where you want to go, you’ll never get there. If your goal is vague, it’s unachievable. If your goal is to be rich, you need to really narrow it down. Use actual figures. How rich do you want to be? How much money do you want to earn a week/month/year?..provided you’re talking about money.

Say your goal is to be healthier this year, think about what that looks like for you. If its loosing weight, then say that! I want to weigh x, by x.

If it’s to be fitter, then say I want to be able to run, swim, walk (or what ever) ‘this’ distance. Anyway, you get the picture.

Step 3 – Attach a timer to your goal.

MmmmHhhhh…goals need deadlines!! Without a deadline, who knows how long you’ll put it on the “tomorrow” (never comes) list. Use a diary or a calendar or what ever works for you. Get it done before the deadline.

Step 4 – Break it down.

Leonie Dawson had these great workbooks that used pictures of mountains to help you get to your goals. Imagine climbing a mountain in one attempt. Now imagine climbing that same mountain, but the mountain has 3 flagged stop overs on the way up. Not so daunting! Making mini goals for your goals actually make your goals a heck of a lot easier to get to or achieve.

a) Write down your goal

b) Write down three steps or mini goals that will bring you closer to your goal

c) Add deadlines to those mini goals and then smash em out!

Step 5 – Re-evaluate

Always check in with your goals, are they still relevant? Do you need to shift your focus?

And that’s it! The perfect recipe for achieving goals.
